Soul Washer
This project was born in 2010 in Luanda during a confusing time of dictatorship and oppression under the Eduardo dos Santos era. He was the dictator in power, seemingly a god venerated by all. The ruling party could commit any atrocity; nobody had a voice, and if they did, they couldn't speak. Social media in Angola at that time didn't have the reach it does today. That's why I decided to burst forth with a cry for freedom. At the time, I didn't have funds for materials, but the need to shout was so great that this wasn't an obstacle for me. I went to the old Roque Santeiro market and bought old fabrics from the used clothing section, items that come from the West for the poor in Africa. I also bought some car paints that they sold in small plastic bottles. And so I produced one of the most rebellious projects of my life, where I poured out all the pain, anger, and discontent I felt towards the MPLA system and the dictatorship of José Eduardo dos Santos.
