Fragile Peace

The project is an artistic expression that seeks to explore the fragility of peacetime in the contemporary world. Composed of a series of paintings and an installation, the project invites viewers to reflect on the delicate nature of peace and the challenges that threaten its existence. The project is an invitation to explore the vulnerability of today's times, which we value so much.

In the subtext of global events, we discover the delicate web that sustains harmony between nations. A single gesture, a single word can trigger a chain reaction, threatening to undo decades of progress and cooperation. On this stage of uncertainty, each work of art is a silent testament to our collective struggle for stability and understanding, to the need to increasingly discuss universal instability. I have been working on this subject for some time; in 2014 I developed a project with painting and installation entitled "The War," and in 2017 I produced another work entitled "Global Wars," and now it is about the common analysis of the fragility of peacetime. The truth is that the need to work with this narrative stems from the fact that I was born in a country that experienced 27 years of civil war, and even today, due to social inequalities and neocolonialism on the part of rulers who seize the country's wealth while the people live in the most absurd misery.

This is the case in Angola, Congo, Mozambique, and many other African countries, and beyond. I also feel a growing need to discuss the universal problem of finding ways, within historical knowledge, to find analytical and thought processes that allow us to have some foresight regarding how we, as human beings and citizens of this planet interested in peace and the progress of humanity, can contribute to understanding and framing bilateral relations between nations within the context of the cultural, sociological, and economic differences of societies. I know it sounds like a utopian narrative, but the truth is that my need to address this issue is very great and goes beyond my common sense regarding how utopian it may or may not be.
